Among these solutions, the sea bridge project in Lebanon stands out as one of the ambitious initiatives made possible through artificial intelligence technologies. This project isn’t just a new infrastructure; it's a bold step toward improving quality of life in the country. But can this bridge become a tangible reality and truly help resolve the traffic crisis plaguing the Lebanese capital?
The sea bridge project is considered one of the pioneering efforts that represent a new vision for the future of mobility in the country. Stretching 15.74 kilometers, it would be one of the longest sea bridges in the region. It’s designed to be more than just a crossing—it’s envisioned as a smart, multifunctional transportation artery.
The bridge boasts a width of 30 meters and stands 10 meters above sea level, allowing large ships to pass underneath without obstruction. It features two directions, each with four lanes: three dedicated to vehicles and one reserved for an electric tramway or emergency stops.
Notably, the entire project is powered by solar energy, making it environmentally friendly and aligning with the global shift toward renewable energy sources. This feature enhances the project’s sustainability and minimizes its environmental impact.
According to estimates, the bridge could handle around 30,000 vehicles per hour. This high capacity would significantly ease the traffic congestion currently affecting Lebanon, leading to improved quality of life for citizens and enhanced economic efficiency.
In a special interview conducted by “Lebanon24” with artificial intelligence, the benefits of the bridge were highlighted. The project is expected to contribute to
Improved traffic flow: reducing congestion and increasing mobility between areas.
Boosting the local economy: Facilitating the movement of goods and people, leading to increased commercial activity.
Job creation: throughout the construction and operational phases.
Reducing carbon emissions: thanks to the use of solar power.
